THREMILL
Name:
Thremill is a Registered Icelandic horse, imported from Iceland in 2000. His coloring is very unique, a Dun with a double mane. His name means “Wow”. His full brother was a tolting champion in Iceland.
He is brave, steady, willing and has a huge heart. Thremill is a bit of a tough guy in the herd and keeps the others on their toes (hoofs).
He had a difficult past life and is here with us to teach us forgiveness, acceptance, and love. He adores children and is very gentle.
Thremill arrived at Seapony Farm on April 9, 2007 as our new addition.
He has made fast friends with all the boys.
Thremill “Thremmie” is considered to be much like “Eeyore” in “Winnie the Pooh” being quite knowledgeable, always ready to lend a helping hand and grateful for his friends.
ICELANDIC HORSE
It has been the tradition to keep the Icelandic horses in herds thus they have maintained most of their natural herd instincts. They do a lot of mock fighting in the pasture, playing together without hurting each other. If they disagree about something, they stand rump to rump, trying to push the other horse away, without having any space to kick and hurt the other horse. This way of fighting for status/playing often causes surprise in horses of other breeds, as it seems to be spectacular for the Icelandics.
The Icelandic horses height ranges between 12.3 and 14.3 hands, with the average horse being 13.3 hands. It is thought to be an insult to call it a pony, and all over the world they are rightfully called the Icelandic Horse. Many a rider has sat on an icy pony for the first time in this life, and returning after the ride saying “This is truly a Horse”, such is the feeling of power and personality that glows from the horse.
